Kind Words from Families

In some of life’s most difficult moments, trust means everything.
We are deeply grateful to the families across Whitehaven and Cumbria who have shared their experiences with Pets at Peace. Your kind words mean more to us than we can say.

Lola

After the devastating loss of our beloved Lola, Jeanne and Steve brought us much comfort with their thoughtfulness and sensitivity. Thank you for taking such good care of her ❤️

Bobbie

We sadly lost our beloved long haired chihuahua Bobbie on Saturday 25th April, pets at peace was recommended to us by a friend and I’m so pleased she told us about them as they were so kind and really understood what we were going through and Bobbie was treated with the love and respect he deserved . They have a farewell room with a bed with a silk cloth over it and they lit candles around it, two seats to sit with him and say our final goodbyes. We picked out a casket from their selection of different caskets. when we returned for his ashes, we got the casket that we picked with his ashes in, his pawprints in a frame with two spare copies, a slate heart with a lovely quote on with his paw print on the bottom, a tiny jar with some of his hair in, a sympathy card, a cremation certificate, some scatter seeds. we got a paw print to put on a tree they had with all the dogs and pets they had cremated. They had a dog wall as well with pictures of the dogs who they have cremated so we got Bobbie put on there as well.
We also ordered some jewellery with his ashes inside.
We couldn’t of asked for a better send off for our beloved dog as he made his way over the rainbow bridge.

Mr Chou

Pets at Peace made the unexpected passing of our beloved Mr Chou more bearable. Their compassion and empathy in the way they treat our beloved pets after they have passed is heartfelt.
Thank you to Jeanne and Stephen. X

Jax

On Tuesday this week we had the worst event of me and my partners life.
Our beautiful pet Jax (Bichon Frise) passed away suddenly.
This little dog was my rock and best friend from when I picked him up at 11 weeks old until he died age 10 years old.
We kept him at home for 24 hours after calling the vet to see how to have him cremated and have his ashes back as soon as possible.
We were given the price and timescale to get Jax back and this was upsetting that it could take up to 2 weeks, thank goodness I asked why so long and were Jax would be taken to be told he would be taken over to the North East, that really upset me….
The receptionist at the vets then told me about a private cremation and told me about Pets At Peace (thank god).
Stephen and Jeanne obviously can’t take away our pain of this loss but there support and expertise was superb.
From passing my gorgeous boy to Jeanne, he was handled with respect and care.
Everything was explained fully and Jax was cremated at 9am the next day and we had him home by 3pm.
Please don’t hesitate to use this service.

Oreo

I honestly don’t know where to start with this review of Pets At Peace. Suddenly yesterday our family French bulldog Oreo crossed the rainbow bridge at home.
Previously we had another family dog cremated through the vets and I said I would never do it again. I googled and found Pets At Peace, I rang the number and left a message and a short time later Steve called me back to discuss. He went through everything in detail and confirmed he could collect Oreo from home and take him into their care.
An hour later he came to my mams house, spoke with her and offered his condolences and carried Oreo out of the house like a baby wrapped in his blanket. I received a message to confirm Oreo would be cremated as yesterday was and I would receive a call when his ashes were ready to be collected.
My Mam and her friend visited Pets At Peace today to collect his ashes and the words they used to describe were “you would have to see the place to believe it, it was such a warm and welcoming place.”
Everything had such a personal touch and I cannot thank Pets At Peace enough for their outstanding services to pets and their families in the most difficult of times.

Jack

On the 10th November 2025 we lost Jack.
Jack was a much loved family member who belonged to my parents but lived between two houses.
Due to my Dad having cancer Jack spent most of his days with myself my husband & our two boys. Eventually moving in completely but still very much loved by everyone in the family & still a shared dog. My parents had him for over 7 years then us for the last 3.
He broke everyone’s hearts 💔 This was our first time using Pets at Peace and they made us all so very welcome. I’ve never seen something so sad yet so beautiful. The way Jack was laid out for us to visit was amazing we knew Jack was in the best place & with people who showed him and us as much love as possible.
I’m happy to share his photo of him laid to rest as it’s not sick in any way it’s the total opposite it was beautiful and he just looks asleep.
We will use pets at peace again & would highly recommend to anyone. Thank you both for your love & kindness

Jake

Stephen and Jeanne, We wanted to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the love, dignity and compassion you showed our precious boy Jake, our Jakey Bear.
After 17 beautiful years with him, saying goodbye was one of the hardest things we have ever faced. During such a heartbreaking time, your kindness made everything feel gentler and more bearable.

We chose to take Jake ourselves on his final journey. Stephen met us outside and took him from us with such tenderness and respect as he carried him to his final resting place. That moment will stay with us forever.

While Jake was placed in the farewell room, Jeanne gently showed us around your beautiful premises. The farewell room itself was absolutely stunning a soft rainbow light shining over our precious boy, lovely music playing, and flowers surrounding him. Knowing Jake stayed there all night in such a peaceful and special place brought us more comfort than we can explain.

Nothing was rushed. Everything was done with such care, love and attention. You both took the time to sit and talk to us about Jake, sharing stories about your own dogs and why you started this business. That meant so much.
You showed us the gorgeous photographs of all the animals you have cared for since you opened, and it was truly beautiful that you could remember each one and speak about them as if they were your own.

Letting Anaya place Jake’s name on the memory tree and finding the perfect place for him on the photo wall was incredibly meaningful for our family.

When we collected Jake’s ashes in the beautiful heart-shaped urn, we were overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness. We received his paw prints, a keepsake bottle with some of his hair, and a gorgeous slate heart plaque with a quote, Jake’s name and his actual paw print. These are treasures we will hold close forever.

The whole experience from start to finish was absolutely perfect under the most devastating circumstances, and we cannot thank you enough for the love and care you showed Jake and our family.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Shalana, Gary and Anaya 🤍🌈.

Lola

have used pets at peace 3 times now (for family) and they have been absolutely amazing , they responded instantly and talked us through the process of what they were going to do. They never mention payment until asked and this is how we know they genuinely do care about what they are doing. They are extremely supportive and empathetic in the given circumstances and do the absolute upmost to make sure you remember your beloved pets. I would 100% recommend this service to anyone.
